Visbion Image Cube installed in over 50 mobile scanning units

Visbion has announced that it is providing Alliance Medical with its innovative Image Cube technology. The project encompasses over 50 mobile scanning trucks as well as a number of static sites.

Visbion Image Cube is a small appliance that has been installed on each mobile scanning unit, allowing any truck to easily connect with any hospital RIS\PACS for rapid and secure transfer of images and modality worklists. The ability to connect any truck to any hospital system without reconfiguration of the scanner has enabled Alliance Medical to be much more flexible and efficient in their logistics.

Images are received from any standard modality in Dicom 3.0 format. The Image Cube then caches those images, prior to compressing them in a lossless fashion, and transmitting them in secure encrypted format to their destination, even handling multiple destinations simultaneously. In addition, the Image Cube can receive and forward Dicom modality worklist queries to enable the complete end-to-end workflow to be implemented.

Stefan Claesen, Visbion’s CEO said “Image Cube offers Alliance a more efficient workflow with significant time savings both for the Radiographers on the scanning trucks and the hospital PACS Managers. It totally eliminates the need to produce CDs and then manually load them into PACS.”

Chris Cook, Alliance Medical’s IT Director commented “Visbion has been an exciting and innovative company to work with. We have found the entire team to be flexible in their approach and extremely responsive to our very specific needs.”
