IHE Connectathon - a great success for our standards based solutions

As part of our commitment to International standards compliance within our product set, some of our development team  attended the IHE European Connectathon in Istanbul last week. The 5 day event enables face-to-face interoperability testing by vendors and users of healthcare information systems.

We are delighted to announce that Visbion was the only company to test and successfully pass the new Image Object Change Management (IOCM) profile as Image Manager. IOCM is a new standard to allow PACS and VNA's to keep rejected images synchronised automatically, thereby reducing the management overhead of a VNA solution significantly.

Stefan Claesen, Visbion's CEO explained 'The IHE Connectathon is invaluable in ensuring that not only are we meeting standards throughout our product set on an ongoing basis, we are also pushing the boundaries of today's standards by passing profiles such as IOCM. Visbion is a corporate sponsor of IHE and is committed to using the International standards of communication in Healthcare across all our solutions.'

Visbion and Med+DBase collaborate to produce integrated Medical Imaging Software Suite
Visbion, leading provider of innovative image management solutions is to partner with Med+DBase, the UK’s leading online practice management system.

Working together, the Med+DBase solution now has Visbion’s proven DICOM technology embedded to provide a fully integrated RIS PACS platform. The system has been specifically designed around the unique requirements and work flows of Radiology Clinics and Imaging Centres wishing to run RIS PACS software, and the viewing and managing of their DICOM images.

The combined solution allows multi-disciplinary teams in varying locations to share medical information together, in real time - from immediate access to images through to related patient information, such as medical billing, coding, prescriptions, diaries, email and SMS communications. In addition, the system can be securely accessed from any PC in the world with an Internet connection, including those within NHS hospitals.

David Baker, Visbion’s COO said ‘We have been working alongside Med+DBase for the last 3 years and both companies have an in-depth understanding of diagnostic imaging in both the NHS and private sector. Now within the Med+DBase system full DICOM images, including prior imaging, can be viewed alongside the EMR and our web based viewer includes an advanced set of tools for reporting.”

Paul Louth, Med+DBase’s Technical Director comments, “For the first time primary and secondary care can actually talk to each other. With the patient’s fully clinically coded record moving seamlessly and with full data-integrity in both directions.”
He continues, “By capturing the entire patient journey, all professionals involved have a complete overview of the patient. This level of collaboration across multiple teams and sites, not only streamlines the process, but also leads to improved patient care and a better management of budgets.”
